Frequently Asked Questions

Is there food or coffee?

We usually provide a small breakfast with coffee for in-person attendees. We aim to provide vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options whenever possible. Please let organizers know if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions that aren’t being accommodated.

Do you have live captions or ASL interpreters? Will I be able to hear?

We aim to provide live captions and transcripts for all events, starting in 2021. All speakers at the physical event will be asked to use a microphone at all times.

Is the space physically accessible? Can I bring my service animal?

Yes, we are actively working with venues to ensure (and improve) physical accessibility of all our events, including ADA compliant entrances and reserved seating areas. The event is held on the ground floor along with the restrooms and does not require elevator or stair usage.

Service animals are welcome.

What restrooms are available?

At least two gendered, ADA-compliant restrooms are available. We are actively working with venues to move this to gender-neutral restrooms for everyone’s wellbeing.

How can I be kind to other attendees?

If you are sick or think you may be sick, please attend digitally, as we may have attendees who are immunocompromised. Refrain from wearing scents such as perfumes/colognes, scented lotions, or clothing with strong detergent scents.

If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Recognize that others might share different backgrounds and experiences, and even seemingly innocent comments said in jest or accidentally can be hurtful. Be open to feedback, eager to learn, and willing to apologize.
