“Empathy, Improv and the User Experience” with Mike Gorgone and Jim Karwisch

June 1, 2016

ImprovUX is a series of talks and workshops that apply the skills of Improvisation to the world of User Experience. It positively affects the Relational, Working and Exploratory connections between UX Practitioners, Clients, Teams and most importantly the Users our products are serving.

This is a fun and INTERACTIVE talk, that includes audience participation using improv exercises. These exercises help show how listening, acceptance and a lack of judgement can create a more empathetic, collaborative, creative, agile, and innovative culture.

Jim Karwisch – Applied Improv Strategist
I have been studying and applying improv since 1997 and have worked in the Fortune 500 world from 2001 – 2014. Currently I work with companies to affect cultural change by applying the concepts, tools and skill-sets of improvisation.

Mike Gorgone – Interaction Design/Front End Development
I’ve been working in the software industry for 20 years from database development, to middle tier, to web development and finally, the last 3 in the UX and Design world. I’ve also been involved with Improvisation for 16 years starting at the Second City in Chicago.
